About us
Five Creeks Studio opened our doors in September 2014 as an informal cooperative of families inspired by holistic, child-led education methods. Now entering our third year, we are an education resource center serving children up to age 8. As we continue to grow, we will add programs for older children and eventually teens.
We bring learner-guided education and social opportunities, immersion in the arts and the natural world, and community and support for families seeking an education outside of school. Five Creeks Studio is inspired by unschooling, democratic schools, Reggio Emilia, forest schools, and Waldorf. Like-minded families value outdoor learning and the arts, seek to limit media and technology for young children, and are at ease with a setting that is not highly academic in the early years. Please see our vision and philosophy for more on our guiding values.
We are a place that is all about learning--without grades, tests, or compulsory lessons. A place that respects and nourishes children and youth, and trusts in their ability to find their own education and life paths.
